Gardaí appeal for witnesses following aggravated burglary in Co Cork

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Co Cork last night.

The incident happened at around 9pm at Pauds Cross, Blarney.

A man entered the house and was confronted by the owner, a man in his early 60s.

The owner received a number of puncture wounds during a struggle with the suspect.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment and has since been released. 

The suspect fled the scene following the struggle.

Gardaí carried out an extensive search following the incident, and two people - a man in his early 30s and a woman is her mid 20s - were arrested.

They are being held at Gurranabraher and Mayfield Garda stations.

A technical examination is being carried out at the scene, and gardaí say their investigations are ongoing.
