Dry, cold and mostly clear this morning with spells of crisp autumn sunshine expected.
However, cloud will thicken from the west as the day progresses and winds will begin to freshen.
Patchy rain and drizzle will then develop along northern and western coastal fringes in the afternoon, extending gradually south-eastwards during the evening.
Top temperatures will range from 13C to 15C in moderate to fresh south or southwest winds.
It will be damp and breezy overnight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle continuing to extend south-eastwards.
Clear spells and scattered showers will follow from the north later in the night but the rain will linger in southern counties until daybreak on Saturday.
Minimum temperatures of 9C to 12C in moderate or fresh south-westerly winds.
