DUP agrees principles to 'confidence and supply' deal with Tories

The DUP has agreed to the principles of a proposal to back the Tories on a "confidence and supply basis", Downing Street says.

Such an agreement would see the Northern Irish party's 10 MPs support the Conservatives on crucial votes when Parliament returns next week.


Woman is charged with the murder of Gareth Hutch in Dublin

A 39-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of Gareth Hutch in Dublin.

The 35-year-old father of one was shot dead last year in a killing that is believed to be linked to the Hutch-Kinahan feud.

Gareth Hutch - a nephew of Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch - died after being shot outside his home on North Cumberland Street on May 24th last year.

39-year-old Regina Keogh appeared in Dublin District Court, where evidence was given of her arrest, charge and caution.


Theresa May's top aides resign after UK election

Theresa May's joint chiefs of staff Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill have resigned after she lost her majority in the UK election.

The pair have been in the firing line after Mrs May's gamble of calling a snap election backfired, with disgruntled Conservatives highly critical of the role of Mr Timothy and Ms Hill played in the campaign.

Mrs May was forced into a u-turn within days of unveiling the policy in the Tory manifesto, announcing that there would be a cap on care coast, something which had not been in the original policy document.


Fine Gael & Fianna Fáil level in latest opinion poll

Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil are level in the latest political opinion poll.

The Sunday Times poll shows both parties made minor gains, while independent candidates lost out.

The poll shows Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil on 29%, with Fianna Fáil up 2, and Fine Gael up 1.


Batman TV star Adam West dies aged 88

Adam West, the star of the 1960s Batman TV series, has died aged 88. 

He died on Friday night in Los Angeles after a short battle with leukemia, his family said. 

He died peacefully surrounded by his family and is survived by his wife Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
