Former FBI Director James Comey has revealed that US President Donald Trump asked him to drop an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
The revelation is contained in a written statement that Mr Comey will deliver on Thursday to a US Senate hearing investigating allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.
Mr Comey, who was fired by the president a month ago, describes a meeting at the White House on Valentine's Day during which Trump brought up Mr Flynn.
It was announced earlier this year that the town of Ballaghaderreen in Co Roscommon would host a group of refugees for two years.
The restored Abbeyfield Hotel building is being used to house the group, who are mainly fleeing violence in Syria.
At time time, some local councillors voiced concern over the move, with one suggesting it could lead to "major problems" unless proper services were put into place.

An Irish man has died during a qualifier at the Isle of Man TT Races, organisers say.
33-year-old Alan Bonner was from Meath.
He was involved in a crash at the 33rd Milestone during the qualifying session for the race.
He made his course debut at the 2014 TT Races, and had a highest placed finish of 15th - which he achieved in 2015.

Uber has fired more than 20 staff as part of its investigation into claims of sexual harassment.
The company began an investigation into some 215 employees earlier this year.
So far the investigation has found at least 20 employees were at fault in terms of discriminatory, bullying and other harassing behaviours, according to Tech Crunch.
