Gardaí waiting to interview mother of child stabbed in Dublin

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after the fatal stabbing of a 3-year-old boy in south Dublin.

A woman in her early 40s, believed to be the boy's mother, was also taken to St James's Hospital where her condition is described as serious.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Poddle Park in Kimmage between 5.00pm on Sunday July 9th and 7.00pm on Monday July 10th to contact them at Crumlin garda station on 01-666-6200.

Varadkar - Regina Doherty blogger complaint a "private matter"

The Taoiseach has insisted that a criminal complaint of harassment made by a Cabinet minister against a blogger is a private matter.

Leo Varadkar’s comments in the Dáil marked the first confirmation of the exact nature of a complaint made by the Social Protection Minster Regina Doherty.

It emerged last week that New-York based blogger, Catherine Kelly had been stopped and cautioned at Dublin Airport about comments she had made regarding Minister Doherty.

Investigation launched after two men die in Kildare house fire

Two men have died after a fire at a house in Kildare.

The alarm was raised in Tully East, Kildare Town at 2.40am this morning.

Three units of the fire service attended the scene and the bodies of two men - one in his 70s and one as his 30s - were discovered in the house.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.

Donald Trump Jr releases emails leading to Russian lawyer meeting

Donald Trump Jr has tweeted the entire email chain in which he was promised 'incriminating' information on Hillary Clinton.

The tweets followed a series of reports by the New York Times, detailing a meeting last summer between Donald Trump Jr and a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower.

The newspaper said the tweets came after the businessman was told the content of the emails leading up to the encounter would be published.

In a statement, President Trump applauded his son's "transparency," calling him a "high-quality person."

Fine Gael to decide if members to have free vote on Drink Driving laws

An opponent of moves to increase penalties for drink driving says he would be happy to get into a plane being flown by someone who had three glasses of beer.

Danny Healy-Rae's comments came as the Cabinet met to discuss the prospect of giving TDs a free vote on the issue.

Shane Ross insists his zero-tolerance proposals for anyone driving over the limit will save lives.

Cabinet has agreed to the policy and all 15 members will vote in favour of it.
