Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil will meet again on Monday to continue talks on a minority government.

The two parties will 'continue contacts' over the weekend - but are not due to hold any meetings. This afternoon's talks were arranged after a morning phone call between Enda Kenny and Micheal Martin - which both sides described as 'professional and cordial'.

Sources indicated it was brief, and largely restated the points made in the earlier talks that collaped on Wednesday.

Matt le Blanc has just made a hen party's day in Kerry

While Matt le Blanc may be officially in Kerry on business, he managed to squeeze in some time to gatecrash a hen party while he's there filming 'Top Gear'.

According to the Irish Mirror, the actor who played Joey in 'Friends,' drove up behind a woman celebrating a friend's hen party in Kenmare and posed for a selfie picture.

Jupiter will stand brightly beside the moon this weekend

Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, will look like a bright star beside the moon on Sunday, in what astronomers have described as ''an event for your bucket list” this year.

An astronomer has said that the two brightest objects in the night sky, will be 'closer together than you will ever see again in your life'.

He added:

"It is really only a line-of-sight effect with Jupiter being 2,000 times further away than the Moon, but to the general public it will look like the two brightest objects in the night sky will be beside one another in the most impressive display the Moon can ever put on with another celestial object!"

IMMAF: Government have kept MMA at arm’s length, it’s time to regulate

IMMAF (International Mixed Martial Arts Federation) CEO Densign White and President Kerrith Brown have called for government regulation for mixed martial arts in Ireland following the tragic death of Portuguese fighter, João Carvalho, on Monday night in Dublin.

Carvalho competed at MMA event TEF 1 on Saturday night at The National Stadium before he passed away approximately 48 hours later at Beaumont Hospital.

Currently, the Irish Amateur Pankration Association (IAPA) oversee amateur MMA in Ireland. Straight Blast Gym Ireland head coach John Kavanagh is the head of the IAPA and they are affiliated with IMMAF. However, due to their constitution under Irish Amateur Wrestling Association (IAWA) and Sport Ireland not recognizing MMA as a sport, their jurisdiction only applies to the amateur sport.

Fr Peter McVerry says the homelessness crisis means drug users aren't given the chance to rehabilitate themselves.

The campaigner's been speaking in the wake of the shooting dead of Martin O'Rourke yesterday, who was killed in a case of mistaken identity.

Fr. McVerry, who worked with the 24 year old, said he had tried to get clean, but suffered a relapse.

And he says the housing crisis makes it impossible for those trying to recover.

"They leave the treatment programme, they've put a huge amount of work into themselves, and if they look for accommodation they will be placed in a dormitory full of drug users."
