Gardaí in Dunboyne are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision between a car and a truck in which a man was killed.

It happened on the R147 at Pace, Dunboyne at around 12.55pm Tuesday.

The 91-year-old man was the driver and sole occupant of the car.

He was seriously injured when his car collided with a truck.

He was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck was also taken to Connolly Hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since re-opened.
