After much speculation and the announcement of one former sitcom star, the BBC has finally unveiled its new roster of presenters for its landmark motoring show Top Gear – and Irishman and former F1 team principal and pundit Eddie Jordon is joining the team.

Jordan will be taking on driving duties with Friends-actor Matt LeBlanc, whose appointment was announced last week. Also on the roster, German racing driver Sabine Schmitz, YouTuber Chris Harris, both of whom were rumoured late last year to be in the mix – along with David Coulthard, who appears to have not made the final cut.

The Stig will return to put cars anonymously through their paces, and the final member of the seven-person team is motoring journalist Rory Reid, who admitted that he thought his chances were extremely narrow when he submitted a 30-second audition video to the show’s producers when they released an open casting call.

“To be the only person to make it through the open audition process makes me immensely proud. I’ve been a Top Gear fan for decades, but more than that, I live and breathe cars in a way that is perfectly compatible with the show,” Reid said.

“I have such enormous respect for all my fellow presenters and I politely ask that they go easy on these old bones,” Jordon added.
