A number of shots have been fired at a house on the northside of Dublin.

Gardaí responded to reports of gunfire at a house in Priorswood in Dublin at around 1am this morning.

When they arrived at the house at Moatview Avenue, they discovered a homeowner's dog was shot dead in the back garden.

A number of shots were fired into the rear of the house – although no-one inside was injured.

Gardaí say their investigations are ongoing.
