Defence Forces members at hotel during terror attack in Mali

The Defence Forces say all its members have been located in Mali, following a terrorist attack there.

Two people were killed after an attack on a luxury tourist resort on Sunday.

It is thought jihadist gunmen stormed the Le Campement Hotel in Dougourakoro, which is popular with foreign tourists.

More than 30 hostages were rescued by special forces.

The Defence Forces say two members had been at the hotel when the attack occurred.

However it says all members have been located and returned to the European Union Training Mission's Headquarters in Bamako.

Irish troops have been deployed in the country since February 2013 as part of EUTM Mali.

Currently, 18 Irish personnel are serving with EUTM Mali.

Seven occupy staff appointments in the mission headquarters in Bamako, while 11 others are based in Koulikoro Training Centre.
