The army bomb squad has carried out a controlled explosion in Limerick.
It comes after a grenade that had failed to detonate was found in the vicinity of a private residence in the Pennywell Road area of the city.
The bomb squad arrived at the scene at around 1.30am.

Several houses were evacuated during the operation.
Following the controlled explosion, the scene was declared safe just after 3.15am.
The army's urging members of the public to contact gardaí if they find any munitions.
