(16.01) CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article stated that Fergus Crawford is the brother of former Fine Gael TD Seymour Crawford. This is incorrect.

It has emerged that a man who challenged Sinn Féin's deputy leader on Grafton Street on Friday is the CEO of the Irish branch of a multinational investment company.

Mary Lou McDonald was speaking to reporters when the man interrupted to complain about Sinn Féin's tax policies.

The man refused to give his name and described himself only as a 'concerned citizen'.

But the man has since been identified as the CEO of the Irish branch of a Swiss investment firm Sarasin, which manages assets of €17.34bn worldwide, and previously held senior positions in ACC Bank.

Crawford accused McDonald and Sinn Féin of planning to "kill pensions" and taxing high-earners "out of existence".

McDonald responded: "Excuse me I'm taxing no one out of existence and I am saying we want... fair opportunities for people, fair services for people... and I'm sorry if you disagree with me but my position...".

Crawford said he was "apolitical", but would be voting for Fine Gael this election.
