An operation is underway to evacuate an injured crewman from an Irish fishing vessel, around 120 miles west off Co Kerry's Blasket Islands.

The vessel had reported that the crew member had suffered an injury on board, and requires hospitalisation.

The Coast Guard helicopter based in Shannon will carry out the evacuation,

Meanwhile a second helicopter is providing additional support due to the distance involved.
