Entertainment group Cineworld has reported a 14.6% increase in revenue in the 10 weeks to November 10th and constant currency revenue growth of 10.8% during the period.

The company said in a trading statement that box office revenues increased by 8.5% on a constant currency basis - with films aimed at children leading the charge.

The Secret Life of Pets, Finding Dory, The BFG and Trolls are all highlighted as top performers.

It adds that Bridget Jones's Baby was a bigger draw than it had been expected to be and Marvel's Doctor Strange has also been performing well.

"The pleasing growth in retail revenues of 14.1% on a constant currency basis was driven by both the nature of the film mix, with more family films, and the continued expansion of retail offerings," Cineworld said in a statement.

The group is continuing to roll out Starbucks outlets to its cinemas and it will focus on developing its premium offerings by investing in 4DX and IMAX screens.

"The group remains confident of delivering results for the year in line with current market expectations," the company said.

In the coming months Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and Star Wars: Rogue One are highlighted as the releases that Cineworld is banking on to pull in punters.
