Dublin commuters are set for a free ride this weekend - provided they can get into the Christmas spirit.
The O’Connell Street Christmas tree lights will be switched on this Sunday and to celebrate, anyone sporting a Christmas jumper will travel for free on the Luas.
The tram operator has teamed up with business group Dublin Town to attempt to break the world record for the most people wearing a Geansaí Nollag, “in the same place at the same time.”
The attempt will begin at 4pm and the organisers are urging “all the festive fashion lovers” to get involved and top last year’s record.
The event will include a pop-up ‘make your own’ Geansaí Nollag stand with “all the baubles and bows that you will need for free.”
The Christmas Tree Lights will be switched on by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Brendan Carr at 5.30pm.
The event will also feature performances from the Hallelujah Gospel Choir and The Academic.
