Children in Southern China experienced the "side effects" of drugs through virtual reality simulations, as part of the United Nation's International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The children, who donned a VR headset, were shown a video filled with psychedelic colours and swirling shapes — with the purpose of giving them a peek into the experience of taking some narcotics.
Speaking after on the experience, it's clear that the experiment worked.
"I feel my body shaking ... and I feel very uncomfortable," a young boy said, speaking on camera.
Another girl added that she felt "very scared."
Some of the side effects of commonly abused drugs like MDMA and LSDs include hallucinations, seizures, confusion and nausea.
