A boy has been hospitalised following a road crash in Co Meath this morning.

The male pedestrian was struck by a truck on the Kells Road at Abbeylands South at around 10am.

The injured boy, who is thought to be 12, was taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the truck is not believed to have been injured.

The section of the road has been closed to facilitate a forensic examination, and diversions are in place.
