Bioanalytical firm Eurofins Lancaster laboratories has announced its plans to expand its base in Dungarvan, Co Wexford, creating 160 new jobs in the process.

The bioanalytical firm already has a major presence in the south-east, and the expanison will see it increase its workforce to over 500 staff in the next five years.

The major building expanision project includes work on its existing 2,700 sq m laboratory, which will receive a 4,400 m sq extensions,as well as the development of a second, 1,800 sq m site on its campus in the IDA Business Park in Dungarvan.

The company is part of Eurofins Scientific, the world leader in bioanalytical testing.

Construction is set to commence in late 2016.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O'Connor commented:

"Already a major employer in this key regional location, this further expansion and substantial number of new jobs will benefit the entire South East Region.

"It demonstrates great commitment by Eurofins’ parent company, Eurofins Scientific. I congratulate the company and their workforce and wish them continued success."

In other jobs news, healthy fast food chain Chopped has taken on 20 staff as its brand new outlet in Rathmines, Dublin 6 opens today.

With outlets in Mulhuddart and on Grafton Street having recently opened, Chopped is also planning to launch outlets in Tallaght and Sandyford shortly.

Chopped's expansion will see it employ 320 people by the end of 2016.
