A Belfast-bound flight from London was delayed by over an hour yesterday because of a row between airline staff.

The EasyJet plane was due to take off just after 2:30pm but had to return to the departure gate so that two cabin crew members could be replaced.

TV presenter Dan Lobb, who witnessed the argument, suggested it was over unwrapping water bottles.

In a series of tweets, he said passengers were offered water as they waited for the flight to depart.

The pilot explained the delay to passengers and the plane eventually landed in Northern Ireland around 90 minutes after schedule.

A spokesperson for the airline said: "EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY835 from London Gatwick to Belfast returned to stand to replace two crew members following a verbal disagreement between them.

"The safety and welfare of our passengers and crew is EasyJet's highest priority and in order to deliver this EasyJet's cabin crew need to be able to work as a team.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the resulting delay."
