All of New York's 279 underground subway stations are now equipped with WiFi.
Officials committed to ensuring that all of New York City's underground subway stations would have WiFi by the end of 2016, with an aim to have full cellular coverage sometime in early 2017.
It follows the introduction of LinkNYC's free gigabit WiFi hotspots and payphone replacement hotspots called Links. As well as being able to browse the web from the tablets, users can make free VoIP calls to anywhere in America and get directions via Google Maps.
