More than two-thousand people have been moved to shelters in Jamaica as a category 4 hurricane heads towards the island.
Hurricane Matthew has winds of up to 155 miles per hour - making it one of the most powerful storms since 2007. It was previously a category 5, but has weakened slightly.
Oxfam is monitoring the situation closely and is preparing for an eventual evaluation of damages in Cuba, Haiti, Colombia and Dominican Republic, where it has national offices and emergency response capacity in place.

It is expected that the hurricane will strengthen as it maintains its northern trajectory through the centre of the Caribbean hitting Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba in the following hours and days.
