50 new jobs have been announced for Limerick - tech company Casa Systems is setting up a new base in the county and says the new positions will come on stream over three years.

It creates infrastructure for next generation broadband technology.

Initial operations will include manufacturing, distribution, customer technical support and related activities. The company is also evaluating the potential for research & development opportunities in the future.

Casa Systems will be located in the National Technology Park in Limerick, close to the University of Limerick.

Lucy Xie, Senior Vice President of Operations for Casa commented on the announcement, "Workforce talent is always a key factor when selecting a new location. With a growing reputation for its highly-skilled technical, logistics and manufacturing talent pool, Limerick moved to the top of the list.”

The jobs are supported by the IDA and the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, its minister, Mary Mitchell O’Connor welcomed the announcement:

"This is a very exciting project and I am delighted that we are attracting cutting edge technology companies to regional locations and that Limerick will benefit from 50 quality jobs. This follows on from recent jobs announcements which show that there is a momentum growing for Jobs in regions around Ireland."
