17 soldiers have been killed at an army base in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Militants reportedly carrying guns and grenades attacked the base in Uri - close to the Line of Control with Pakistan.
The Times of India reports that 19 soldiers were also injured in the attack.
It is understood four attackers were killed, while a search is continuing for any other militants involved.
The incident is the most deadly in the disputed region in recent years.
It comes amid a period of violence in the region, with protests continuing over Indian rule.
BBC reports that more than 80 people - mostly anti-government protesters - have died in the last two months.
