Yahoo's business model today seems to be to have its fingers in a little bit of everything. Now they're getting into Facebook.

They've released new chat bots that work with Facebook Messenger.

Bots have been around Messenger for a while now, but seem to have gone by without much fanfare.

It's essentially the same window as when you message your friends, but instead you're talking to a piece of software that'll answer some questions you ask or interact in a particular way.

Yahoo now offers its News and Finance feeds through a Messenger bot. All you do to get it is search for it on the Messenger app like you would for a friend to contact, and start chatting with it.

Most business pages also appear when you search for bots. To know which is a bot service and not just a regular chat page, you'll see a prompt down the bottom asking you to Get Started, rather than a normal text box.

News will give you the top stories of the day and what's trending, and Finance will bring you the latest from what's happening in the markets and news from major movers and shakers.

Yahoo Sports also looks like it'll be coming soon, but isn't available just yet.

This isn't the first series of messaging bots Yahoo has made available. They've been on the Kik platform before Facebook. Yahoo Finance will be a Facebook exclusive bot.

Looking at how well these have been implemented, you can expect to see more Yahoo properties, like Weather and Tech, coming to Messenger pretty soon.
