Fr Brian D'Arcy says the discovery of almost 800 babies bodies next to a Galway mother and baby home is as bad as anything that happened in Nazi Germany.

The Government says a 'scoping exercise' is underway to determine whether other mass graves like that found in Tuam exist in other parts of the country.

In a statement The Archbishop of Tuam has told an order of nuns they have a moral obligation to engage with an examination of how 796 children died and were buried in a mass grave. The Bon Secours nuns ran the home in Tuam.

Fr. Darcy told Newstalk Lunchtime that, "at the end of a long life in the priesthood I thought I was unshockable - but I have to say this is as shockable as something that happened in Germany in the war."

He says people need to be brought to justice for 'sinful crimes'.

Alice Leahy is the Director of TRUST, a social and health service for people who are homeless. She told Newstalk Lunchtime about working with people who were former residents of mother and baby homes.
