Drake was the most popular artist on Spotify this year, racking up 4.7 billion streams in 2016.

The streaming service has released its annual round-up, revealing that the Canadian rapper enjoyed both the most streamed song (One Dance) and album (Views) of the year.

It's the second year in a row Drake has dominated the charts, and with a total of 8.7 billion streams is the most streamed artist ever on the music service.

Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots and Kanye West round out the top five most streamed artists of 2016.

Former One Direction star ZAYN is listed as the breakout artist of the year, while the service's 'Today's Top Hits' playlist managed to attract almost 12 million followers.

Spotify has also listed its top artists by genre, and suggests 'Ambient Fusion', 'Witch House', and 'Indie Emo' are the top three emerging genres of the year.
