Casting for the Irish version of ‘Gogglebox’ is to get underway shortly.

A UK production company is expected to be involved in the new project.

TV3 says casting will get underway in the coming weeks.

It was announced in 2014 that the Virgin Media-owned broadcaster had bought the rights to create an Irish version of the Channel 4 show.

It makes TV loving couch potatoes the star, and will be giving Irish viewers a chance to wax lyrical about what is on the box.

The rights to the show have been already sold to Chinese, Ukrainian, Canadian and American broadcasters.
