Leonardo DiCaprio's Oscar win became the most tweeted about moment in the history of the Oscars on Sunday night. 

The actor, who was first nominated over 20 years ago, finally won for his performance in The Revenant, which generated an unprecedented wave of tweets and social media interaction. 

According to data from Twitter, DiCaprio's win generated 440,000 tweets per minute, topping the previous record set by Ellen DeGeneres and her now famous selfie. 

The other most talked about moments on social media were Spotlight picking up the Oscar for 'Best Picture' and Mad Max: Fury Road's win for Sound Mixing, which marked the movie's sixth award of the night.
