The star of The Hunger Games franchise is donating the money to a hospital from her hometown
Jennifer Lawrence announced that she will be donating $2 million dollars to the Kosair Children's Hospital in Kentucky.
Based in Louisville, Lawrence's hometown, the star has been visiting the children who receive treatment there and stated that those trips have had a profound effect on her.
In a short video accompanying the news, she asked others to also get involved and donate, to hopefully raise a further $2 million and match her gift to the hospital.
The Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit will be established as a result of her gift, and Thomas D. Kmetz, of Kosair Children’s Hospital said that they were grateful that Lawrence "has put her trust in the outstanding work taking place at Kosair Children’s Hospital every day by challenging the community to join her in support of our heart care program".
