Social media users have been sharing images and videos of the effects of the storm on the country
Thousands of homes around he country are without power as Storm Desmond batters Ireland, as well as parts of the United Kingdom.
The storm has been responsible for flooding, travel delays and sporting events being cancelled, as high winds and heavy rain continue to hit Ireland. People have taken to social media to share images and videos shared from all around the country showing the effects of the storm.
That hasn't stopped a few dedicated souls from heading down to the seafront to take a quick swim.
In Dublin and Donegal, strong winds and heavy rain have caused trees to fall and damage to property as roads become impassable.

Similarly, in Cork, Brown Thomas on Patrick Street has suffered damage to its storefront signage, while in Kerry Tralee is seeing flooding.
Still, some people have chosen to go about their business as usual today.
