If the presidential election were held now, 47 percent of registered voters would support Hillary Clinton, versus 41 percent for Donald Trump, a not particularly big lead and one that’s narrowing since both Trump and Clinton are deeply disliked by significant sections of the population.
So what is happening in American politics that despite Trump’s apparent madness, he’s gaining ground by the week. Is it time to take Trump seriously?
