Yesterday, the IRFU sprung a surprise when they named Andy Farrell as Ireland's next defence coach.

But another announcement is set to be made in the shape of the country's next rugby captain.

The likes of Rory Best, Peter O'Mahony, Jamie Heaslip, Sean O'Brien and Jonny Sexton are among the names who have been tipped as leading candidates.

But according to 48 per cent respondents of our Twitter poll on the matter, it's Munster skipper O'Mahony who should be awarded the position, ahead of Ulster hooker Best:

Eddie O'Sullivan tipped Best as a leading option for the role on Monday night's Off The Ball, citing his leadership skills and a chance to groom his long-term successor ahead of the next World Cup.
