Transfer deadline day update

The main mvoes of the day

  • David Beckham is expected to sign for Paris Saint Germain shortly. The former Real Madrid, AC Milan and Manchester United midfielder has been without a club since the MLS season finished in early December and his contract with the LA Galaxy expired. A press conference is scheduled for 4pm, in Paris.
  • Mario Balotelli’s move to Milan has been confirmed, with the Serie A club paying approximately €20 million for the striker, with another €6 in add-ons. Many have suggested a return to Italy will be good for the erratic young man who is known for his habit to cause controversy. So, in the spirit of serenity and peace it’s good he’s gone to play for AC Milan as an ex-Inter player.
  • Christopher Samba heads back to the Premier League for the princely sum of €14.5 million, and for no less than €115,000 per week. The club with the previously burning pockets is QPR, and the club receiving the impressive fee is the one club in world football who definitely doesn’t care, FC Anzhi Makhachkala. They’ll just throw it on the pile, they don’t need it.
  • Newcastle supporting Danny Graham has gone North to join Sunderland, with Swansea receiving €6 million for the striker.
  • Norwich have swapped their Welsh striker, Steve Morison, for the Argentinean frontman from Leeds, Luciano Becchio. Becchio has 19 goals so far this year for the Championship side and had recently put in a transfer request with the Yorkshire club.
