Are we eejits when it comes to our Christmas spending?

Conor Pope set George straight on a few ways to lower the Christmas spend.

Retail Ireland released figures today that predict the Irish Household will spend an average of €2,587 this December.

George Hook asked Irish Times' Consumer Affairs Correspondent Conor Pope on High Noon today whether this is over the top.

The figure of €2,587 is approximately €720 more than any other month of the year and roughly €26 more than Christmas 2015. The reasons attributed to this surge in spending are that 3% more people are at work, with disposable income also up 2% and prices on the way down.
