Talking History's Patrick Geoghegan tells George he's not altogether wrong when he says Ireland is part of the British Isles.
A lot of people were up in arms during Tuesday's High Noon, when George Hook included Ireland in the British Isles during the show.
Such was the reaction that George wanted to find out whether he was right or wrong in his assertion, so he invited the host of Newstalk's 'Talking History' onto the show today to get the truth.
'You're both right and wrong in using the phrase ‘British Isles’. It’s a traditional phrase, and probably has most relevance when describing the period before the creation of the United Kingdom in 1801. The problem is that it gives the sense of a proprietorial claim on this island.'
Also, are there any other phrases that are potentially more appropriate? Maybe tweet your suggestions to @HighNoonNT.
