Jaap Stam has indicated that he will remain as Reading manager regardless of the result in the upcoming English Championship final.

Reading face Huddersfield at Wembley on Monday with both sides 90 minutes away from potentially being promoted to the Premier League.

Former Manchester United, Lazio and Netherlands centre back Stam took Reading into the playoffs by finishing third in the Championship, the highest placed of the non-automatically promoted sides.

"I still have a contract over here. I'm happy over here. I love working with this team and these players," he said at a press conference after being asked about his future.

"It would be great if we could make it to the Premier League. If not we are still in the Championship and still have a good team and [I'm] working for a nice club. I’m happy with where we are at the moment."

Stam has been Reading manager since June 2016.
