The pair will fight for the WBO welterweight world title in July
Michael Conlan looks set to feature on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's world title fight with Jeff Horn this July in Australia.
Confirmed today by Top Rank, should Conlan come through his headline fight in Chicago at the UIC Pavilion unscathed this month, he looks set to box on his biggest card to date.
"If all goes well, he’ll fight in Brisbane on Manny Pacquiao’s world championship undercard," Top Rank Vice-President Carl Moretti said today.
"There is a large Irish community in Australia."
Pacquiao and Horn will meet at the SunCorp Stadium in Brisbane, but Conlan is focused on his next assignment.
"I know how good I want to be and I know I can improve on a lot more," he said. "After New York City I took some time off and spent some time with my family and just relaxed.
"This is the next step. My preparation will be the same. It’s my job and I look forward to fighting here in Chicago."
Reflecting on his first professional fight, he said: "No stage fright for me at all, I enjoy the whole package, including talking to the media and meeting with fans I’ve always had a lot of attention on me.
"The amateurs and the Olympics are all in the past, it’s all about the future now. I want to stay as active as possible."
