Munster and Toulouse will be like "two heavyweights going at it"

A trip to perennial strugglers Zebre might not have given a true reflection of where this Munster team are at the moment, but to come away from Italy with a bonus point victory certainly leaves them in good stead for their upcoming Champions Cup game.

Rassie Erasmus' side welcome Toulouse to Thomond Park this weekend in the hopes of securing a spot in the semi-final of Europe's premier club competition.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Jaco Taute admits he is relishing the challenge.

"We've done our research throughout the year," he said. "Toulouse are a great side and have a rich tradition and history, especially in Europe - winning the competition four times.

"I think they've got one of the best records against Munster in the competition. It'll be one hell of a game, like two heavyweights going at it.

"They're a side who can run it from everywhere, a typical French side [...] We'll be prepared, we'll know what's coming. It's not going to be easy so we'll train well. I'm looking forward to the weekend."

Munster will be hoping to welcome back Conor Murray to the starting XV as he continues to recover from an injury picked up against Wales in the Six Nations.

The province say they will be giving Murray "every opportunity" to be fit for Saturday's game and Taute reckons that the Irish scrum-half will be fit come the morning of the game.

"A guy like Conor is a world-class rugby player. He'll know what to do. We've got a great medical team that look after him, but he's hands on. He's a world class player, so he'll slot in easily.

"He'll definitely contribute to training if he's on the pitch or not.

"He'd play with a broken leg if he had to, that's how much he love Munster so we'll see what happens. Hopefully he gets through all of his medical checks."
