Anderson Silva to face Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 212

The card is headlined by the bout between Jose Aldo and Max Holloway

Kelvin Gastelum has been granted his wish and will face Anderson "The Spider " Silva at UFC 212 in Rio de Janeiro in June.

Gastelum had called out the former middleweight champion after beating fan-favourite Vitor Belfort at the weekend in Fortaleza, Brazil.

The American is currently on a three fight win streak having beaten Johnny Hendricks and Tim Kennedy before his exploits at the weekend.

Silva is coming off a controversial unanimous decision win over Derek Brunson at UFC 208. The Brazilian, considered by the some as the greatest of all time in MMA, endured a difficult few years since he lost his title to Chris Weidman in July 2013. He lost to both Michael Bisping and Daniel Cormier last year.

Gastelum is a former "Ultimate Fighter" reality series winner when he beat the highly favoured Urijah Hall in the final. He is currently 9-2 in the UFC and moved up to middleweight after suffering difficulties attempting to make the welterweight limit.

Jose Aldo will face Max Holloway in the main event at UFC 212 while top women's strawweight contenders Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Claudia Gadelha are also scheduled to fight.
