He was injured against France in round two
Scotland's imposing number eight Josh Strauss has been ruled out for the remainder of the Six Nations.
The Scottish Rugby Union confirmed the news in a statement on Friday.
The 30 year old injured a kidney in the second round match in Paris and has returned to his club for medical treatment.
He is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks. The news comes on the back of Greg Laidlaw's injury which has also ruled the scrum-half out for the remainder of the championship.
Scotland host Wales next weekend at Murrayfield.
