Irish golfer had been four off the lead after Round 1
Paul Dunne is two shots off the lead on 10-under after a round of 66 on Day 2 of the Abui Dhabi Championship.
The Irish golfer shot 6-under overall for the day to rise from 4-under where he started Friday's action.
Dunne bogeyed just one hole with that setback coming on the 3rd.
But he also managed five birdies and made huge progress with an eagle on the Par 5 18th hole.
He is now in a three way tie with England's Tommy Fleetwood and Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand.
Martin Kaymer is the new tournament leader after taking a one shot advantage to move onto 12-under.
First round leader Henrik Stenson has dropped back to three shots off the lead to sit in a four way tie for sixth on 9-under.
Rafa Cabrera Bello is second overall on 11-under after a 66.
Darren Clarke ended 6-over, dropping three shots for the second consecutive round.
On Monday, Rory McIlroy announced that he will miss the Abu Dhabi Championship because of a rib injury sustained en route to second place at the South Africa Open which he lost in a playoff to Graeme Storm on Sunday.
