The two men will meet in March in Las Vegas
It was one of the best title fights of 2016, and a rematch between UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson has been confirmed.
The two men fought to a majority draw at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden in November. Two judges called the fight as a 47-47 draw, with one judge giving Woodley a 48-47 win. The defending champion was originally named as the winner, before the decision was overturned.
Woodley spoke on Monday afternoon to media about the fight taking place at UFC 209 in Las Vegas, but it was finally confirmed on Monday night by UFC President Dana White.
The fight will take place on March 4th and will be expected to headline the card. A heavyweight fight between Alistair Overeem and Mark Hunt has also been scheduled for the event.
The fourth round between Woodley and Thompson was widely seen as one of the best in recent memory, with the challenger doing well to survive the onslaught from his opponent.
With the title rematch having being announced it cools the talks of a potential fight between Woodley and Conor McGregor for the Welterweight title.
