Premier League club Burnley have resigned Joey Barton.

The midfielder's contract was cancelled by Rangers last month after a training ground altercation back in September, following the 5-1 Old Firm derby defeat to Celtic.

Barton only played eight times for the Scottish Premiership side, before parting ways

He will officially rejoin the club he left them for, when the transfer window reopens next month.

The club confirmed the move on their official website, subject to international clearance.

The 34-year-old was part of Burnley's promotion push in the 2015-16, before leaving for Rangers in the summer.

They have made a solid start to this season, sitting 14th as they look to survive in the top flight.
