Connacht have suffered an injury blow as Marnitz Boshoff has been ruled out for at least three months.

The 27-year-old South African, whose move to Connacht was announced in the spring, requires surgery to the shoulder he injured in the Pro 12 win over Benetton Treviso.

It leaves head coach Pat Lam short on options at out half, with Craig Ronaldson also injured.

Jack Carty remains the only option that is fit at No 10.

Bundee Aki, Stacey Ili, Cian Kelleher, Tiernan O'Halloran and Jake Heenan are also injury concerns ahead of Saturday's return fixture at the Sportsground.

Connacht lost 32-17 to Wasps in the weekend's European Champions Cup action but remain in contention to advance from their pool.
