He was granted a boxing licence in California last week
Conor McGregor's recent acquisition of a boxing licence has the fight world in a flurry.
We look at 3 possible opponents should the Dubliner decide to swap the octagon for the squared circle.
1. Floyd Mayweather
The American appears to be top of everyone's wish list but his risk averse tactics and unwillingness to engage opponents make for boring fights.
Exhibit "A" would be the super-fight with Manny Pacquiao. Fans had been begging for the pair to fight for years and although the although the bout brought record pay-per-view numbers, it tanked as a spectacle.
Pacquiao injured a shoulder in the fourth round and Mayweather coasted to a decision. The last time Mayweather came close to losing was when Oscar De La Hoya took him to a split decision in 2007.
2. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez
The Mexican brawler is a fan favourite and a bout at Cowboy's Stadium in Arlington, Texas would be a barn-burner.
With only one defeat on his record (against Mayweather), the fiery Alvarez would be an excellent choice for a super-fight.
He is currently riding a 6 fight win streak which includes wins over Miguel Cotto and Amir Khan.

3. Gennady "GGG" Golovkin
The current middleweight king is the biggest active name in boxing at the moment.
A fight at 160 lbs against McGregor in New York would be sure to attract huge PPV numbers.
The unbeaten Kazakh is possibly the most feared fighter in the sport at the moment.
