Laurens Vanthoor won the race after crashing
The Macau Grand Prix is one of the most intense motor races in the world.
Taking place on a street circuit around the Chinese city, the track regularly sees crashes that can temporarily suspend races. There are very few run-off areas which allows the cars return to the track to allow drivers recover from mistakes.
Last weekend, the Macau Grand Prix saw one of its most spectacular crashes, as leader Laurens Vanthoor saw his car flip after he touched two walls.
The crash, caused the race to be ended early, which resulted in Vanthoor's win. The result was taken from the previous completed la, which saw the Belgian take the win.
Speaking to motorsport.com after the race, Vanthoor said he was unsure he deserved to win the race, after it was his own crash that caused the premature stoppage.
"I don’t really know if I deserved it in a way, as I crashed and made a mistake and I am still a winner – which is very awkward. But I don’t really know what to say. It would have been a better show for everybody without the crash and a better victory, but I don’t know what to think about it."
There are many ways to win a race, but it almost always involves driving on your four wheels, and not your roof.
