The anniversary of Gary Speed's death takes place next Sunday
Leeds and Newcastle United fans paid a heartwarming tribute to the deceased Gary Speed during their Championship clash earlier today.
Speed spent stints at both clubs during his career and was hailed as an icon during his time in the respective jerseys. The former Wales international passed away five years ago at the age of 42 and his anniversary is coming up next week.
Today was the first time that both clubs had met since Speed's death and tributes were paid to their fallen hero. Both sets of teams wore t-shirts with his name and squad number on them during the warm-up and in the 11th minute, all the fans in the stadium applauded his memory while chanting his name.
