The boys in green won 40-29 in Chicago on Saturday night
Ireland's win over New Zealand will live long in the memory after a brilliant result in Chicago.
The Boys in Green were hailed for their performance by their coach, but fans, pundits and former players alike took to Twitter in the wake of a historic win to congratulate the team.
Last time an Irish team beat New Zealand was 1978 with Brendan Foley as lock. Today Ireland won after a minute silence for his son. #IREvNZL— Elaine Byrne (@ElaineByrne) November 5, 2016
While Irish players were quick to share their joy online, a number of other rugby stars also recognised what a big night it was for the sport and, in particular, the Boys in Green.
