While much of the attention from abroad would have been focused on the culmination of the Ryder Cup, attention in the United States remained firmly fixed on the as it continued on Sunday afternoon.

In the day's early game, the Jacksonville Jaguars turned around their disastrous start to the season (0-3) to record a three-point victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

The game, played in Wembley Stadium, saw Blake Bortles throw for two touchdowns and run for another. They were forced to hold off a late Indianapolis comeback to run out winners.

Russell Wilson recovered sufficiently from a knee injury to help Seattle beat New York by 10 points. Wearing a knee brace, the quarterback wasn't very mobile, but was still on hand to pull the strings to improve the Seattle's record for the season (3-1).

Buffalo punished New England Patriots and streaked to a 16-0 victory last night in front of a home crowd at Gillette Stadium. It was New England's first loss of the season and their final game before Tom Brady returns from his "Deflategate" suspension. Dan Carpenter added three field goals to LeSean McCoy's touchdown.

Atlanta (3-1) moved to the top of the NFC South with victory over Jacksonville. Defending NFC champion Panthers (1-3) scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns but it was not enough to see them suffer a 15 point defeat.

Elsewhere, there were narrow wins for Oakland, Chicago and New Orleans.
