The GAA football team of the year has been announced and unsurprisingly, strong debates about selection omissions have followed.

The team which was compiled by a comittee of experts, was announced on the Sunday Game last night with All-Ireland finalists Dublin and Mayo dominating the pick.

In fact, the half-back line is exclusively filled by men of the green and red with just Tyrone, Tipperary and Kerry being represented in other positions.

But several commentators online felt that Tyrone defender Peter Harte and Donegal's Ryan McHugh were unfortunate to be excluded from the final cut.

Here is the team that was chosen in the end:

1. Stephen Cluxton

2. Brendan Harrison

3. Jonny Cooper

4. Philip McMahon

5. Lee Keegan

6. Colm Boyle

7. Paddy Durcan

8. Brian Fenton

9. Mattie Donnelly

10. Kevin McLoughlin

11. Diarmuid Connolly

12. Ciaran Kilkenny

13. Paul Geaney

14. Michael Quinlivan

15. Dean Rock
